Help Your Guests Beat the Heat at Your Summer Wedding

June 25, 2018 | Posted in Events, Uncategorized, Weddings

One of the most commonly overlooked factors when planning a summer wedding is the heat. Though the rain isn’t as unpredictable as it is in the spring and you certainly won’t have to worry about the freezing temperatures and snow of the winter, the summer heat can be a real pain the neck to deal with if you’re not prepared. This is especially true for your guests. No one wants to attend a wedding where they’ll be dripping in sweat, gasping for air, or parched in the dead of an NJ summer heat wave. Therefore, you’ll want to do your best to make sure they’re made to feel comfortable.

Consider an Indoor Venue

The summer may seem like the ideal time of year to have an outdoor summer wedding, and for some couples, that is what works best. However, depending on when in the summer you intend to get married, temperatures can average 80-100 degrees. Indoor wedding venues tend to have air conditioning to accommodate you and your guests. If you like the idea of an outdoor wedding, you could consider having the ceremony outdoors but move the reception inside so guests aren’t outdoors all day.

Fans and Bottled Water

You don’t want your wedding guests dying of thirst or dripping with sweat before the ceremony even begins, so why not make them comfortable? If you’re having a summer wedding, you should talk with your wedding planner about ordering little paper fans and water bottles to have handed out to your guests. You can have them customized with your names and wedding date on them as well as printed the colors of your theme.

Light Foods and Beverages

When you’re having a summer wedding you should really consider the menu options. Having your guests eating heavy foods, and or consuming a ton of booze could be a recipe for disaster in the hot sun. Try to stick to lighter meal choices like salads and hydrating beverages. For example, we offer a fruit-infused water station you can add to the ceremony to keep your guests cool.

Summer really is a beautiful time of year. It is a great time to get married in New Jersey as well. Whether you’re planning an indoor or outdoor summer wedding, however, it is important to keep the comfort of your guests in mind. Choosing a temperature controlled space, offering fans and water, and sticking to a light but interesting reception menu can make all the difference.
