Plan the Perfect Wedding Menu

February 23, 2015 | Posted in Weddings

Many guests say that the wedding menu is one of the most memorable parts of a wedding. Planning the perfect wedding menu takes time and thought! You want at least a few options to ensure that each of your wedding guests will have a great experience.

If your banquet venue offers some flexibility—consider some of these ideas when you start planning your wedding menu:

Select your style: Decide if you would like something formal or casual. Do you prefer your guests to be served at a sit-down dinner? If you have a difficult time deciding, write down the pro’s and cons of each including pricing if you’re a bride on a budget!

Decide on a theme: Creating a theme can enhance the wedding reception experience. The smells and tastes can take your guests away to a place where you want them to be—whether it be a casual backyard bbq atmosphere, festive evening brunch, elegant hors d’oeuvres reception, upscale sushi bar, or hearty Italian buffet.

Be aware of food allergies and special diets. Once you have a confirmed wedding menu and guest list, you can include a small section on the RSVP card that will allow wedding guests to write down their food allergies or special dietary needs. Double check with your caterer to make sure they are able to accommodate those needs, whether it be vegan, gluten-free, or vegetarian friendly options.

Personalize your desserts: Make a statement with your desserts! Upgrade to a fondant cake for impressive design, or classic buttercream cake for something rich and satisfying. Get creative with dessert stations, cake towers, cake pops, or dare to try a naked cake—yes, we said naked cake! It’s cake with frosting in between layers only—perfect for rustic weddings and people counting calories. Take your event to the next level with a pancake cake, crepe cake, or bring in a food truck that serves desserts. The possibilities are endless!
