Throw a Travel-Themed Wedding (Without Leaving New Jersey)

August 27, 2015 | Posted in Trends, Weddings

Many couples share a love of travel, but maybe a destination wedding to an exotic island or a European city isn’t in everyone’s budget. Never fear, New Jersey couples: we found some brilliant ways to add travel-themed inspiration on your wedding day. Check out what some Central New Jersey couples at the Windsor Ballroom at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, NJ do – no passports needed.

Start off with the menu: To kick off the celebration, think about exotic foods from you and your partner’s favorite destinations. Do you swoon over handmade sushi, share a love for perfectly crafted enchiladas, or crave authentic Cajun fare?

Wherever your tastebuds have led you in the world, it’s so easy to incorporate a “taste” of it in your wedding menus, especially with the Windsor Ballroom’s fabulous selection of cocktail hour treats. Here’s just a small sample of what our banquet hall offers:

Don’t forget drinks! Whether it’s a tropical treat that will bring your guests straight to the Caribbean or perhaps a signature sip from your favorite city, try adding a customized cocktail to your wedding day. (The Windsor Ballroom has an amazing selection of seasonal cocktails; check out our wedding package accessories for more.)

Travel-themed decorations are easier than you’d think. Shop craft stores or antique markets for charming items like globes, old-fashioned suitcases, maps, or vintage postcards.

Make the table come alive by using postcards or photos of your favorite destinations as table numbers like one New Jersey couple did below. For a really stunning touch, incorporate travel into guests’ place cards and place settings: luggage tags, faux tickets, or a miniature map would all make for an unforgettable place card.
